Today's flowers - Red, Yellow and White

Today's flowers are not from my garden.

The first two flowers, the Peacock flower and the white Lily were from my walk this morning planted along the track by the roadside.

Caesalpinia Pulcherrima commonly known as the Peacock flower

I have always called this Lily, Bernie said its called Spider Lily (Hymenocallis), though there is no sweet fragrance coming from it

Cassia Fistula or the Golden shower flowers

Love the bunches of yellow flowers hanging profusely from the tree in my cousin's garden...I felt like walking under a cherry blossom tree!

All great tropical beauties. We commonly call the white one, the Spider Lily. There are a few different varieties of Hymenocallis/Spider Lily. The one that grows here is Hymenocallis caribaea ... which looks the same as the one in your photo, but I can't tell the different varieties apart I have to admit.

Love the Caesalpina ... I always wanted one of those in my garden. I'm lucky enough to have the Cassia fistula, but mine is not flowering right now.

SquirrelQueen, I love that too..the flowers hanging like bunches of grapes!

Thanks so much Bernie, can always depend on you for the names these tropical plants.None of those blooms are in my garden. I love to have Caesalpina and Cassia fistula but they are too big for my small garden.

Thank you Randi, the lily bloom is quite delicate and pretty!

One I love them too. First time I saw it was in the KLCC park when I went jogging a few years back. They were so stunning with all the hanging blooms!

Wong, thank you..you too enjoy your Sunday!

Bangchik, you are right...lovely on the tree and under it!

The spider lily is a beauty. I like any flower have an unusual form. It is so interesting to find the different ones in a garden.

Thanks Holly!

Yes Donna, the spider lily has a unique form, very delicate, you can see that its quite transparent and easily damaged.

I thought the Peacock flower would be my favorite - but that golden showers is something I would love to have! Beautiful photos.

These three flowers are also in abundance in the Philippines, where I live. Since I am way from home right ow, I must be missing seeing them in bloom. Instead, I see them here. Lovely.

The yellow flowers look like bunches of orchids, very beautiful lah! Does it flower all year round? How big is the tree?

p3chandan said...

Thank you Holley, the Cassia is a beauty, feel like Spring when its blooming!

Hi Francisca, Philippines share the same climate as us, so the fauna and flora are the same. Thanks for dropping by my small garden...do drop by again!

Thank you Clipped Wing!

Wow! really Rainfield, you too have Cassia fistula in your garden? Would love to see your taman sometimes!

I wish I could have this tree in my garden Malar..but its too big a tree for my small garden. This one is in my cousin's garden.

Aloha Noel, I have never seen Cassia in other colour but yellow, thats why its called Golden showers. It would be so beautiful if its red or orange!

Yes Joy their bunches of yellow blooms all over the tree are so gorgeous!

Milka, a bit like orchids with their blooms hanging down from the tree. Its a deciduos tree, like Angasana (pokok sena), though not flowering all year round. Probably at this time of year its blooms appear. Its quite tall like the rambutan tree but since your compound is big, it will be so lovely to have one there! Imagine looking up at those beautiful bunches of flowers..

The Spider Lily does look very beautiful and interesting, like a plant from outer space.

Beautiful flowers! We call the Peacock Flower, Pride of Barbados. I have little seedlings just starting and see no regrowth on the old ones just yet.

The cassias are lovely. I have seedlings of another cassia that we call Candlesticks just coming up good.

Tropical plants are among my favs but not all grow well in this sub-tropical climate.

The cassia flowers are so lovely. I saw lots of them in Siem Reap last week when I was there. Would be nice to have a tree like that, but it would be too big.
