My beautiful, stunning yet wild, morning glory, is a sight for sore eyes early in the morning. Huge blue flowers among the green foliage never fail to amaze me! It really makes my day...
When I bought it 5 yrs ago it was very pale blue and left the pot at end of my pondok then completely forgotten all about it until last year when I found what looked like pink buds strewn all over under my mengkudu tree. I looked up the tree and....the most beautiful sight I have ever seen in my own garden! Deep blue flowers profusely blooming high up the tree on my neighbours side of the fence! Probably that side is sunnier and not in the shadow of my house. Too bad I didnt think of snapping their photos then...
Now I notice they are all over growing wildly, competing with the sireh for climbing space. They can be very invasive so I try to train their vines to curl and twirl along the fence just like training a grape vine to climb the pergola.
electric blue...
training the morming glory not to climb my pondok
or else it will soon look like a tree house in the jungle

Such a pretty blue flower! I hardly see them now!
Thanks Malar..you can always get it at nurseries
I really love this type of morning glory. Actually I had bought the seeds from the Giant supermarket but have not planted yet.
I came to know that you can cut some short vine from this and propagate it for more plants.
So, if it works for you - you can keep many short ones and trim it just nicely so that they don't crawl all over.
That way, you can keep it neat and tidy.
Do check if they ever close the bloom, I think they bloom all day and night?
Ok James I will try your advice n see if it works..thanks. I have checked their blooms close up by evening
That's a pretty morning glory ;-D Sometimes, the plant we grow like to play 'hide and seek' with us.
Nice to know you p3chandan. I saw your begonia in your earlier post. They are beautiful!
I like the colour of this morning glory, with a pinkish glow in the middle which makes it a class above the normal ones I see growing wild everywhere. I thought morning glory only blooms in the morning and the flower closes later in the day, hence their name ;P. How about yours?
Hi Steph nice knowing you too..thanks for dropping by
Yes Autumn Belle..I love the colour too. And you are right, they do bloom in the morning n by evening their flowers close for the nite...
Early in the morning, the flower would be at its most beautiful..... a nice shade of purplish blue...

Yes Bangchik I love the colour too but the flowers will only last for 2 days the most, by then the colour slowly turns dark pink/purplish and drop off..
Beautiful flowers. I always enjoy looking at them somewhere else. :)
