Water is the key to life itself and one of the most captivating elements that can be added to a garden. Just combine water, stone and vegetation and you have a time-tested way to create a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere.
The reflection of a sky, clouds or landscapes on a pool offers a beautiful and ever-changing spectacle. Here I often sit and contemplate about life, resting my tired bones after a back-breaking weeding session, while feeding the fish, admiring the lotus and other water plants....

The sound of trickling water from the urn, can be heard from my bedroom window, soothes me with its soft melody and lull me to sleep.....here water hyacinth are placed in a tempayan

Water cabbages as I know these are called, the fish love them too...
Since I have the small pool, when in season the frogs make loud mating calls at nights which drowns the trickling sound of the water from the urn, and make me sleepless somtimes!
The long spiky plants on the left is where the frogs love to lay their eggs

BTW - the pegaga is also known as pennyworth.
I often use it to garnish my nasi goreng dish.
Often I take the scissor and trim the leaves with tiny strips - taste so much like spring onions.
Its easier to consume that way compared to munching the whole leaf. And there is a lot of nutrious value to it.
One of it is - helps brain development.
Nice pond. Your white water lily look so pure and pretty. I once grew the purple one. The pegaga is very lush and healhty. A nice place to relax after a hard day's work!

Stephanie..thank you for the compliments.I do try to make my small pond the focal point of my garden where family n friends will get together a few times a year at the pondok besides it. Im not too sure the pegaga is for eating, Ive never tried..
James..thanks but are you sure that decorative pegaga can be eaten cos Ive asked the nursery abt it.The one selling in the wet market, is the real thing which I also love to make a simple kerabu.

Autumn Belle...thanks for the compliment. My small garden is indeed a sanctuary where I can relax sitting by the small pond, even my cats are fascinated by the koi fish and they love to just stand there n watch..or maybe they are trying to catch the fish? Hehe..
Thanks Bangchik, well..its what they say, good for Feng Shui, maybe to counter the effect of a river flowing behind my house? Hehe..but its not really planned as that, its just that I love a water feature in my garden, makes it more attractive and I love koi fish! Its more practical to have a small pond than a big aquarium in the middle of your garden, right?
I would love to sit by the pond and enjoy the plants that you have there and watch the fishes swimming away! What a therapeutic spot to have. Oh ya...I can also enjoy listening to the sound of trickling water. Mmm...you have a little aquatic paradise in your garden!
