Second chance of life

My plants do die on me, due to my own neglect sometimes. Too busy, no time, no mood or just plain LAZY...thats no excuse! Then comes the guilt and remorse of loosing your once beautiful healthy plant to wilting, dried up, lifeless stumps, gone, kapuutt! Well, those were my lazy, I-have-too-many-things-to-do-days...still have the reminder...a dried up pot of fern! The rest of those pitiful plants, have died and gone to heaven...May they rest in peace!
Look at this pitiful completely dried up fern, at that time, there was not even a single green shoot or stem left. But I was not going to give up on this once lovely fern, so I cut all the top part
and left it under my mengkudu tree - my plant 'hospital'. Guilt and remorse kept me watering it everyday without fail hoping that it would grow back.

For months, there was no sign of the thing coming to life, still I kept pouring water over it. Then after a bout of rainy days, slowly I saw some curly little green things coming out....the fern finally unfurling its lovely green leaves! Iwas overjoyed!

That was almost a year ago, my pet fern slowly becoming healthy again, though I did not for once ever fertilised it, not even re-potted it...just plain water, water and water it!

See..how the once dried up fern was given a second chance in life and coming back with vigour to grace my pergola. Never again will I neglect you my little pet fern!

Hey I have a healing tree too, where I put my plants that are not doing so well. And I have done the same sort of thing to many a fern, they seem to be very hardy and will pretty much come back from the dead with water.

I'm so glad you saved yours :)

Have you fed your cat today? It's ok if you forgot. Cats have 9 lives. :)

One is really funny. Oh no, I just remembered that I forgot to feed my fish today!! I enjoyed reading your post, chandan. Made me smile. Of course, I'm guilty of the same thing...even let my orchids die. Unlike you, I didn't send them to a tree hospital, aiyoh, so teruk of me.

Back in my country we had a summer inferno every time, but my mom always liked to have ferns, they were very picky about getting water regularly, and yes a lot of them died on us many times.

Your mengkudu is the hospital and you're a very good doctor to give it a second chance of life. I might have thrown it away if left only few leaves... macam takde hope dah.

Plants do make us feel guilty sometimes. That happens to me too, they will bounce back to life when given a second chance. Well, it doesn't work all the time, but if it does, it makes us feel happy!
And I am happy to extend an award to you. Pick it up from my site when you can. Goodnight!

Really strong this fern. Hopefully my plants too will have a second chance of life. They are badly burned now. Not sure some of it will bounce back.

It's good to have 2nd chance of life...but sometimes it's give you trouble. This fern life so well in my orchid pots, they are so healthy....but give big headache for me to keep them away from my orchid. If they are so healthy...then my orchid will die...slowly ;(

Yes Rainfield, its a miracle if we have a second chance of life.

One, even if they have 9 lives, they have to be fed like babies..hehe

Thank you Rosie, Ive enjoyed yours too. I guess I sayang want to throe the dying plants, so tried my best to revive them if possible since its my neglect they became like that.

Fer, I think so too, this fern can grow wild if they have enough water but my neglect and probably the heat wave at that time, they became so dry on top but their roots were still there and but were very thirsty!

Milka, I sayang want to throw dying plants, so I try every possible way to revive them if I can.

Thank you Joy, Im honoured to receive the award though cant imagine Im so stylist..:)

Thank you Mr H, I did what I could since its my neglect it almost perished.

Kbos2hm, am not so sure if there are types of fern which are poisonous.Thank you for visiting my garden blog.

Yes Bangchik and Diana, these fern were quite resilient, they might get dry on top but their roots are very deep inside the soil to find water to survive. So thats why I didnt throw them away yet until at least I tried to give them second chance under a shady tree.

I know what you meant Makarimi, Ive seen these fern grow in the same pot as my other plants, their spores really spread and sometimes they can take over that plant's place!

Thank Eliza, Im glad to participate in your HFGP
and its great that you have these monthly issues, at least we can learn about new plants and their care. Will be honoured to participate again.

Ali, sorry missed your comment up there :) Its good to know you too have a plant hospital like mine. This particular fern is really a survivor, but then I still have one pot that didnt survive no matter how I tried to nurture it to good health again!:(
